BULA - Welcome to Pacifikana - the website for Fijians, serving or wishing to serve, in the British Armed Services and their families. Our aim is to help make your move from Fiji as smooth as possible and to inform you, as best we can, of the great (and not so great!) experiences you may encounter in the UK and Germany.

Marika's deportation hearing in January 2008 was successful and he is allowed to stay in the UK. Your contribution and support by signing the petitions has helped so much to win the case. Now we are waiting for the result of the European Court of Human Rights. We moved to Germany in June 2008 and married in Fiji in summer.

We would like to thank all of you for your support.
Many people have visited the website and many signed the petitions. Thank you so much and Vinaka Vakalevu! Please keep spreading the word about this website to make it a great success for all of us!

We also wish to highlight various issues surrounding racism and discrimination towards Fijians, particularly in the army.

But most importantly we would like you to make this YOUR website - share your stories, thoughts and ideas and contact others who may be in the same situation as you.

australia_koalaMarika's story

Marika had been serving in the British army for nearly 7 years when he was dismissed and issued with a 16 months prison sentence.

While defending himself and a friend against discrimination and verbal abuse he found himself caught up in a trivial bar fight and now faces deportation following his jail sentence.

A devoted soldier and a loyal friend, Marika feels that this is all a result of an unfair trial; this is what inspired us to establish Pacifikana.

To read more about Marika's story and to find out more about how you can help, please click here.

Please register and please sign the petition for Marika! Every signature counts!

Please find below the current petition! Please sign it! To sign, just click on it. Many thanks!

1.  Grant an appeal for Marika and give him the chance of a fair trial

Please keep signing his petitions for a fair trial as his appeal might go to the European Court of Human Rights.
